An address or owner name entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Preston County Property Records does not store a private search history on its own servers. If you write to us, the message and details you choose to include are used to respond to that message.
Basic Technical Logs
The hosting service records ordinary technical details such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and request times. We review this information in aggregate to diagnose errors and understand general site use. Analytics or advertising measurement may also use cookies or similar technology where enabled.
What We Do With This Data
We use it to operate the site, fix problems, measure traffic, and improve pages. We do not sell a list of our visitors, and we do not build profiles of individual users.
County and Other External Links
Links here point to the Preston County Clerk, Assessor, Sheriff’s Tax Office, mapping resources, and outside search services. Those destinations set their own privacy terms. Information sent to a county portal or a sponsored search provider is handled under that provider’s practices, not this policy.
Who Might See Your Data
Service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
Safeguarding Information
Connections to this site use encryption, and technical logs are retained for operational purposes only as needed. The site has no user accounts, so it does not maintain visitor passwords or account profiles.
Users Under 18
This site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Depending on your location, laws may give you rights to review, correct, or delete personal data a website holds. The sources reviewed for this project did not identify a West Virginia consumer-privacy statute to cite here. Since this site does not keep accounts or copies of property searches, a request about information sent in a message can be directed through the Contact page. County and state public records are controlled by their custodians; requests to access or correct those records belong with the office that maintains them.
